CLS Border Maker Monday - Creative Memories Daydreamer Collection

Hello and welcome to my blog. Today is Border Maker Monday on Creative Live Scrapbooking Facebook Page and I'll be sharing three layout's created with Creative Memories' Daydreamer Collection as well as CM's great border maker tools.

I know I already mentioned this in another post but it's worth repeating as a much needed reminder to myself!. Once I have my camera in hand I take way too many photos. I don't really know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. It's probably a good idea to take lots of photos but it's also an even better idea to keep the best out of what you've taken and delete the rest. I have the hardest time deleting the rest …. I want to keep them all! And I usually end up printing a whole lot more pictures than I will actually use in an album.

Case in point - the photos I used in today's scrapbook layouts. I took these photos while visiting my #2 daughter along with my grand-daughter and her family over an early spring weekend in 2018. Because the pool in their great aunt and uncle's new home hadn't yet been fenced off, the girls weren't allowed in the backyard without an adult. When they wanted to go out to play I willingly grabbed my camera and went with them. I probably took somewhere around 200 plus photos of my great-granddaughters that Saturday morning and managed to edit them down to 74 images. Of course, I sent all 74 images to the printers. If I averaged 5 photos for each two-page spread in an album, those 74 pictures would fill an entire 15 page album! Yikes! To combat that problem, I've set a goal for 2020 to ruthlessly limit the number of photos I keep on my computer and send to the printers. We'll see how that goes! In the meantime, I'll be struggling with all the photos I've already had printed trying to decide what will go into an album and what won't. Such is the case with the photos I chose for today's scrapbook layouts. Knowing that I wasn't going to create a 15 page album with these photos, I had the hardest time deciding which photos I would scrapbook!

Although I had a hard time choosing which photos I would use, I didn't have a hard time choosing which Creative Memories Collection I would use!  CM's new Daydreamer Collection is the perfect match for the pictures I took of my daydreaming great-granddaughters.  You'll find instructions for each layout below.

Here's what you'll need to create today's layouts:
Daydreamer Paper Pack
Daydreamer Embellishments
Daydreamer Stickers
Daydreamer Variety Mat Pack
Limited Edition White Shimmer Cardstock or Cardstock of your choice
12-Inch Trimmer and Victorian Blade
12-Inch Decorative Trimmer
Personal Trimmer
Border Maker System and the retired Scallop Dot Cartridge
Lace Trim Border Punch
Custom Cutting System and Rectangle Patterns
Retired Decorative Lattice Border Punch
Adhesives 
Brown Dual Tip Pen

Instructions:

1. Using the 12-Inch Trimmer, cut one 6" x 12" piece and one 2 1/2" x 12" piece from the dark pink pattern paper shown. Using 12 x 12 Refill Pages as your base, adhere the 6" x 12" piece to the left side of the left page and the 2 1/2" x 12" piece to the right side of the right page as shown. 
2. Using the 12-Inch Trimmer, cut one 7 1/2" x 12" piece from the light green pattern paper shown. Adhere to the right page as shown.  Adhere three 4" x 6" horizontal photos to the right side of the left page as shown. 
3. Using the Border Maker System with the Scallop Dot cartridge, punch 2 borders from dark green pattern paper shown. Trim both to 3/4" x 12" and adhere to layout as shown. Adhere the heart border sticker to the right page as shown. 
4.  Mat one 4" x 6" vertical photo with a large dark green variety mat and adhere to the left page as shown. Adhere two 4" x 6" vertical photos to the right page as shown. Mat one 4" x 5" horizontal photo with a large dark green variety mat cut to 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" and adhere to right page as shown. 
5. To create a title, use a Personal Trimmer to cut the words from the Collect Beautiful Moments variety mat, leaving a floral print border print around each word. Set aside the trimmings and adhere to left page as shown. To create a journal box, use a Personal Trimmer to trim the large variety mat shown to 2 1/2" x 4 1/2". Adhere to right page as shown. 
6. To finish, use the Personal Trimmer to cut floral print trimmings you set aside into two 2 1/2" squares. Use a brown or black dual tip pen to create faux stitching if desired and adhere to right page as shown. Adhere stickers and embellishments, using foam squares if desired to add dimension. Journal your story and you're done! 

Instructions:

1. Use the beige pattern paper shown as your base. Using the Lace Trim Border Punch punch two 2 3/8" x 12 " borders from the dark pink pattern paper shown. Adhere to page as shown. Using the 12-Inch Trimmer and the Victorian Blade, cut two 1 1/4" x 12" strips from the floral pattern paper shown. Adhere to your border as shown. Scroll down for ribbon instructions and create two 12" long ribbons from white shimmer cardstock. Use a repositionable tape runner to adhere ribbon to border as shown. 
2. Using the Custom Cutting System, the small rectangle pattern and the red blade, cut a rectangle from the variety mat shown above. Use a brown dual tip pen to create faux stitching if desired and adhere to border as shown. 
3.  Adhere two 4" x 6" horizontal photos to the left page as shown. Mat one 4" x 6" vertical photo with a large dark pink variety mat and adhere to left page. Adhere four 4" x 6" horizontal photos to the right page as shown. 
4. To finish, create two flags from mat or paper scraps and adhere to left page as shown. Adhere stickers and embellishments, using foam squares where desired to create dimension. Don't forget to journal your story. 

Ribbon instructions: 

And, finally, here's my last layout for today. 

Instructions: 

1.  Use 12 x 12 Refill Pages as your base. Using the 12-Inch Trimmer, cut two 7" x 12" pieces from the pink pattern paper shown and two 5" x 12" pieces from the floral pattern paper shown. Adhere to both pages as shown. 
2. Using the Decorative Lattice Border Punch, punch two 1 1/2" x 12" borders from the dark green pattern paper shown. Use a repositionable tape runner to adhere border to both pages as shown. Adhere two border stickers shown to the lower edge of the lattice border, overlapping the lattice border as needed. 
3. Use the Decorative Lattice Border Punch to punch two more borders from the dark green pattern paper. Use the 12-Inch Trimmer or a pair of sharp scissors to cut the top part of the border from the "lattice" as shown. Use a repositionable tape runner to adhere to the top edge of your layout as shown.
4. Use a sharp pair of scissors to fussy cut the corner floral arrangements from two variety mats. Adhere to your lattice border as shown, tucking the "Dreamer" word sticker slightly underneath the arraignment on the right. 
5. Use a personal trimmer to trim the vertical side of the Joy variety mat to 4" x 4 1/2" and adhere to the left page. Mat a horizontal 4" x 6"  photo with white shimmer cardstock cut to 4 1/2 x 4" and adhere to the left page. Adhere two 4 inch square photos to the right page. Mat two             4" x 5 1/2" and two 4" x 4 1/2" photos with dark green pattern paper and adhere to layout as shown.
6. Use the personal trimmer to trim the journal mat shown to 2 1/2" x 4" and adhere to the right page as shown. Use a pair of sharp scissors to cut the pink and the yellow flower stickers shown in half and the leaf stickers shown as desired. Adhere to the top edge of your layout as shown. Hint: It's easier to group and adhere your flower halves and leaves together before adhering each arrangement to your layout.  
7. To finish your layout, tuck the round yellow sticker shown partially under the square photo shown and create a title with white ABC/123 stickers as shown. Use a foam square to adhere the yellow heart embellishment to the left page and tuck the "Shine On" word sticker slightly underneath the heart as shown. Be sure to journal your story and that's it!

CLS Winter Blog Hop

Today I'll be sharing a layout created with Creative Memories Winterberry Collection. 

Although we don't get a lot of snow here in my high desert home, we did get snow on Thanksgiving Day and the day after Christmas. I took pictures but I'm not ready to scrapbook them and I've been wanting to get the winter pictures I took of my great-granddaughters in 2018 (yes, I am behind!) scrapbooked.  I love the way CM's Winterberry Collection complements my photos so today I'm sharing a layout that proves there doesn't have to be snow in your pictures to use this collection. You'll find instructions for my layout below.  

Here's what you'll need to create today's layout: 
Winterberry Designer Paper
Winterberry Designer Stickers
Winterberry Laser Cut Borders
Winterberry Variety Mat Pack
12-inch Trimmer with the Straight, Deckle, and Scallop Blades
3-in-1 Scallop Tag Punch
Tape Runner, Repositional Tape Runner and Foam Squares
Black Dual-Tip Pen
Black ABC/123 Stickers of your choice (I used a retired set for my layout).
I also dusted off my retired (old Creative Memories) heart punches for this layout.

Instructions: 

1. Using Plain 12x12 Refill Pages as your background and the 12-Inch Trimmer with the Straight Blade, cut four 2" x 12" strips from the purple printed paper shown. Adhere to both pages at the top and bottom as shown. 
2. Using the 12-Inch Trimmer and the Scallop Blade, cut two 8 3/4" x 12" pieces from the white dotted paper shown. Adhere to both pages as shown, making sure to cover the edges of your purple strips. 
3. Mat two 4" x 6" photos with the large dark purple and large light purple variety mats. You'll also need two 4" x 5 1/2" photos and two 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" photos. Adhere photos as shown.
4. To create the decorative edge on each of the two bottom photos, use the 12-Inch Trimmer and the Scallop Blade trim one short end of a 4" x 6" dark purple variety mat and cut to about 3/16 inches wide with the straight blade.  Use the Scallop Blade to trim the edge of the same mat a second time and, again, cut to about 3/16 inches with the straight blade. Set aside the remainder of the variety mat to be used later. Use a Repositional Tape Runner to adhere strips to edge of the two bottom photos as shown.
5. Using a pair of sharp scissors, cut the Laser Cut Border shown into two 5 1/4" long pieces, carefully cutting around the design as shown. Use a Repositional Tape Runner to adhere to layout as shown. 
6. To create a journal box, use a personal trimmer or 12-Inch Trimmer to cut a 3" x 4" journal box from a 4" x 6" variety mat. Adhere to left page as shown. 
7. Using the 12-Inch Trimmer and the Deckle Blade, cut a 2 1/4" square from the remainder of the dark purple variety mat used in step 4. Add faux stitching with a black dual-tip pen if desired. The white square with the dotted trim shown was cut from a variety mat to 2 1/8" square. The square has a small heart in the center that you can leave as is if desired. I covered mine with one 1" and one 1 1/4" heart cut from variety mats using CM's retired heart punches. Mat your white square with a 2 1/4" square cut from purple cardstock. Adhere both squares to right page as shown. Adhere stickers shown, using foam squares where desired to add dimension.
8. To create the flags used on the left page, cut one sticker flag to 1 3/8 inches and adhere to page as shown. Use the Scallop Tag Punch to punch a tag from a 1" wide piece of scrap paper. Cut to 1" long and adhere to page as shown. Adhere stickers shown, using foam squares to add dimension where desired. 
9. To finish, create a title with your choice of black ABC/123 stickers and adhere to page with stickers shown. Journal your story and you're done.

Fall Blog Hop

Today I'm going to share a fall inspired layout using CM's Harvest Delight Collection. 

Fall is my favorite time of the year and when my family decided to take a trip to a local apple orchard, I jumped at the chance to take pictures of our adventure. I think I came home with about 200 to 300 pictures. I've been challenging myself to edit down to no more than 50 pictures of one event (scrapbooking 200 pictures would take an entire 45 page album ...at least!) but I found it very difficult to choose only 50 of the pictures I took. I ended up with about 70 printed photos and I can't wait to get them into a scrapbook album. CM's Harvest Delight Collection is the perfect enhancement to my apple orchard photos. You'll find specific directions for today's project below as well as a sketch and a sketch guide with general directions for creating your own version of my layout. 

Here's what you'll need to complete this layout:

Creative Memories Harvest Delight Paper, Stickers and Variety Mat Pack

Songbirds Border Punch

Flag Punch

Tearing Tool

12-Inch Trimmer and straight blade

Adhesives

To create, follow the general instructions found with the Sketch Guide below. To save the Sketch Guide for your personal use, simply right click on the guide and choose "Save as."

For my layout, I punched the Songbirds Border and two flags from mats from the Harvest Delight Variety Mat Pack. My journal box, title box and the torn paper rectangle under the Songbirds border were also cut from mats from the variety mat pack.  The flag under the title is a sticker. The leaves underneath my half flowers were cut from one sticker. Use foam squares under a few of your enhancements to create dimension, journal your story and your done.

Today I'm going to share another layout using CM's Blend & Bloom Pink Decorative Paper Pack. If you haven't guessed it by now, I'm obviously way into pink.

Here's what you'll need to complete this layout:

Blend & Bloom Pink Designer Paper Pack 
Blend & Bloom Embellishments
Light Grey or Silver Cardstock
Tape Runner & Foam Squares
12-Inch Trimmer & Wave Blade
Black & Silver Pens

Instructions:

1. Trim three vertical & three horizontal 4x6 photos to 4x5 and three 4x6 photos to 4x4. 
2. From cardstock cut two 5 1/4" by 12" pieces and one  3" x 4" rectangle to use as your journal box.
3. Using the wave blade, cut four 3/4" x 12" strips from light pink patterned paper and four 3/4" x 12" strips from dark pink pattern paper.  Using your tape runner, adhere strips to the underside of cardstock so that the first layer shows about a quarter of an inch from the edge and the second layer shows another quarter of an inch from the edge of the first as shown. Adhere cardstock to pink gingham pages as shown. Adhere your 4 x 5 photos to cardstock as shown. 
4. Using the wave blade, cut three 4 1/2" square photo mats from dark pink pattern paper and three 4 1/4" square photo mats from light pink pattern paper. Layer and adhere with 4" square photos as shown. Adhere photos to layout as shown. 
5. To create a title box, use the wave blade to cut one 2" x 4 1/2" rectangle from dark pink pattern paper and one 1 3/8" x 3 5/8" rectangle from light pink pattern paper. Layer and adhere to page as shown and use a silver pen to create faux stitching as shown. Use foam squares to adhere embellishments shown. 
6.  To create a journal box, use the wave blade to cut one 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangle from dark pink pattern paper and one 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" rectangle from light pink pattern paper. Layer and adhere to page as shown. 
7. To finish, use the wave blade to cut small squares from scrapes to anchor your butterfly embellishments. Adhere to page and use foam squares to adhere butterflies as shown. Adhere bling and an epoxy dragon fly as shown and you're done.
